We noticed this white stuff growing on our tetras maybe 2-3 weeks ago and looking online it sounded like either neon tetra disease or columnaris, so the first thing we tried to do was fish them out to separate them. Between one of us trying to shoo them away from their hiding places and the other one trying to use the net for a good 20 mins we gave up and decided to buy something from the pet shop to treat whatever this was.
Long story short, we’ve tried an anti fungal treatment on advice of the shopkeeper who said it sounded like ich but it doesn’t seem to have made too much of a difference, and we’ve yet to try the antibacterial water treatment. I honestly expected to find them all dead by the next day when we first discovered it but so far only one seems to have succumbed to this illness a couple of days ago.
What is this and how do we treat it? It seems to be only affecting the tetras. The water parameters have been consistently within normal limits.
(Excuse the black algae on the leaves, they are incredibly resilient)

I had something like that in my tanks, and if I looked closely, it was round worms emerging
