My ~2 year old Daiwa presso met its demise after I stepped on it in the dark and I ordered a new one. Oddly enough the new one I just received has smaller guides than the old one. Is there a benefit to the smaller guides on the new one? Is this an improvement or a mistake? Old is right, new one is left.

They don’t seem identical
different action?
as far as i know in japan sometimes spinning rods comes in “straw settings” with smaller guide like the one on the left. those smaller guide should be more suitable for braided line.
