Honestly bubble nest don’t matter, he look healthy. Did you complete the nitrogen cycle? Tanks looks too clean.

You could technically add more plants, they like it busy. But I’m not gonna say a 100%. He’s extremely handsome

I wouldn’t put any weight into bubble nests. All a bubble nest means is that they are sexually mature and ready to reproduce

get him one of those little floating logs!!! it’s important to them to feel safe near the surface and they love to rest 🙂

So since you’ve said you don’t know what the nitrogen cycle is, that’s the key indicator that something is wrong.

You have no beneficial bacteria colony to break down waste (decayed food, plant matter, feces, etc…) and therefore it’s just building up ammonia in the tank. Get a bottle of beneficial bacteria to begin this cycle and the API master test kit to keep an eye on it. This is going to be a fish-in cycle , so you’ll need to do 15-20% water changes near daily to keep your fish from dying from ammonia poisoning. And since this tank is still small, it’ll cause a faster buildup, so you’ll NEED to keep up with this.

The cycle will take upwards of 3-5 weeks. Dose beneficial bacteria as often as the bottle instructions state.

Bubble nests aren’t an indicator of anything other than sexual maturity, but I’m glad you asked about this because your fish is at great risk of getting very sick and/or death.

High water flow. Have multiple hammocks near surface. Also a little over feeding helped once.
