I like left retrieve because I’m casting with my right.

I go both ways L and R.
I would only fish with R but developed tennis elbo and trigger finger from over usage ( too much fiishing). Now my rods are both L and R and it made a world of difference

Your dominant hand should be casting and reeling. Using the wrong side in order to avoid switching hands is lazy and incorrect
