Hi all, I nicked the top of my aquarium glass while taking a rock out. It’s very small (maybe 0.5cm). It’s at the top where there is less pressure, and doesn’t go all the way through the glass, but it is on the outside and I don’t love the direction it’s pointed. 10 inches in from one side on a 30inch front pane, glass is 8mm. Tank is 10yo so not the end of the world if I have to replace, just trying to decide how urgent. Have had water damage before and know how bad it can be. Thanks!

  1. Because it’s a crack it can spread with water pressure over time and it can, and likely will, explode under pressure. I’d replace the glass or tank.

I’d fill it with epoxy and call it a day, but I am a roguish character when it comes to aquarium keeping.

Cracks spread…it makes me nervous. I wouldn’t personally but I’m not an expert.

  4. I’d sand it down or something. That’s on the top, the crack needs to go but its probably salvageable IMO.
