So I am an avid freshwater fisherman and have not fished salt water in a very long time. Basically just looking for some insight on a pretty much grab, spool and go rod combo. Looking at one of the three pictured for now from Bass Pro (only because I have the cc there and points to use). I would not be fishing salt water as regularly as I do fresh water and would be mostly off banks, surfs, jetties (maybe), no piers or super crowded spots. I live in Houston and most likely would fish around Texas City Dike’s, Freeport, Galveston if that helps. Thanks in advance for any input!

I think 8000 is to big you’re gonna be tired from constantly casting, assuming you’re going to be using plugs. Go with a 8-9’ rod with a 4k or 5 k reel, The combo you’re showing would be good small shark fishing.
Depends on what you’re targeting. I target pompano and whiting. I could not find out the box combos so I bought a 10′ penn squadron rod and penn 4000 series pursuit iv. 15/lb braid with 20lb leader. That being said I haven’t caught anything yet. 😂 I’m in the Panhandle.
These are pretty big, I guess you could make the argument for any of these if you’re doing bait and wait. The weight won’t get to be too much.
If you’re walking and casting then only the 5k combo and even then I personally feel you could do better with a lighter combo.
Again though if you’re tossing bait out and chilling then it’s whichever one you like the most or can get the best deal on.
