For the first 24 hours he was obsessively glass surfing the back wall of his tank, and acting very agitated. Lots of people have said its normal, but it seemed excessive to me. Then…I caught him flaring at his filter. And then at the back wall.

Apparently the filter and his black background are just reflective enough for him to occasionally get a hint of his reflection, so he spent all his time obsessively searching for that reflection.

At one point this little dude was so mad at the background that he flared at it and body slammed it…then saw me, and swam over…flared at a bubble on the surface, then flared at me. Hard to believe something so small can have so much audacity.

Black background removed, filter is now covered with a bunch of moss on a new piece of driftwood. Took another 24 hours but he's finally stopped searching for the "other fish," and is much less grumpy now! But still super active, I swear this guy never sits still! Is that normal?!

Little guy has zero fear, he's already eaten out of my hand. And during a water change, he just followed my hand/the tube around to see what was going on. Both on the drive home & immediately in his new tank, he didn't act stressed or scared even once.

All this to say, I absolutely love him and he may be the best 55euro I've ever spent. I appreciate his attitude, he is a perfect addition here lmao

He still needs a name, too…open to suggestions 🙂
