I was backing my trailer down the ramp and my Garmin 93sv fell off the kayak. I had a Ram ball with a T-bolt mounted to a Navarre Beef Up Plate. This is the 1.5" ball. Composite, not aluminum.
I contacted Ram and they immediately mailed me another ball under warranty.
I don't travel with anything connected to the ball and I'm not aware of any hard hits to the ball. It's about 2 months old. Is this a common issue?

This looks like you overtightened the bolt and stressed the plastic.
I had 2 clients last year have them fail on the water out of nowhere.
