hi! this is my fish Umi who I have had since last Thursday. when I first got him he stayed in the back of his tank for a while but now that he's in the front more I've noticed some jaggedness to his fins? I'm so worried about him but I don't know what it is or what to do. The first two photos are of him now, the second are of him a day or so after I got him and the last one is his tank setup. any ideas?

I’ve tested my water with my aqua one liquid kit and also at the fish shop near me. ph is 6.4, nitrates,nitrites and ammonia at 0.
the tank was cycling for six weeks. I’ve had the fish since last Thursday.
about 25-30% water change every week. carefully siphon and vacuum sand while I do it. put the water back in with a plate to break the flow of the water in pouring so it doesn’t disturb things.
no tank mates.
I feed him hikari betta pellets. a couple twice a day.
the tank has soft sand substrate,gravel towards the back, driftwood, some smooth round rocks and lots of live plants like frogbit,aluminum, duckweed, bacopa,baby tears, lace fern, some weird frilly plants, Java moss and an anubias
Good on your being cautious. But it looks like he might have gotten caught on some decor. Maybe a bit of pointy wood somewhere?
Either way, he’s fine. They grow back.
