I was gifted a betta tank + fish some time ago. I tried following a lot of the advice here and unfortunately was unable to save the first lil guy (he wasn't doing too great when he got here).
Anyway, my tank has cycled and whatnot now. The PetSmart employee did a water check for me and told me it was cool to add a fish, so I got a new one (aka my friend who gifted me the first one got me a new one).
So some tank advice/rating for a beginner would be great for me, I think. I've never had a fish before, so I'm really trying. There's two live plants and one fake one on the wall, planning to add more once I get paid and have time to go to the store again. I have a feeding ring on the way (he hasn't seen any of the food I've dropped in there so far).
