I fish a 2016 hobie outback. Even when it’s not rigged, thing still weighs a good 85-90lbs. I have a method for my rack at home to swing it onto my car fairly easily, by myself. But when I’m not fishing with a buddy and going solo, it’s a pain to unload off the roof racks of my Honda accord.

Any suggestions on what to use? It’s a 2020 accord and I have the Yakima jetstream crossbars on it. Ideally thinking a suction mount for the back trunk that I can just roll it up onto, then flip it upside down. Didn’t know if there’s something better tho?

  1. Your mileage may vary, but I found that you can accomplish about the same thing by going to your local stuff Mart and buying a very thick, oversize bathroom mat. The kind with the rubber bottom you might put outside of your shower so it doesn’t slip.

Fold it in half. Hold it up against the back of your car hanging down and flip the other half up onto the roof. Nose the kayak up onto it and then push from the rear.

I have found that the 2 suctioncup models slide down and are more of an annoyance than helpful. I had the best luck with the 3 suctioncup versions

  3. My buddy has this exact setup and it works well for him, I just bought one. It’s a better option for a heavy hull.

Just known that if here’s any dust on your windshield this will have trouble sticking

I use one of these to car top my perception outlaw onto my Subaru Crosstrek. It’s easily the best $40 I’ve spent on kayak accessories

Get one with 3 suction cups, if you’re in us you’ll find one extremely easy, with pumps or lever action, if you’re from eu, it’s very hard to find one but i managed to get a lever action one from wiltec
