Jacob Runyan and Chase Cominskey got in trouble for this a couple years ago in ohio. They got 10 days and $3500. A slap on the wrist for career slimeballs.

Hold the people who do stupid shit like this fully accountable. This fraud trivializes the whole point of competing. I know some people will be rubbed the wrong way by a statement like this, but money ruins all sports. Whether it’s incentivizing cheating or the problems that come with gambling or just the pervasive influence of ads, it shifts the focus away from pure competition and fun to doing anything and everything you can to win so you get some cash.

TL:DR the Tournament prize was for over $10,000 making it a Class 3 Felony in Texas after the Game Warden performed a necropsy on a the suspect fish. They found non-corroded weights in the stomach that matched the exact weights in the suspect angler’s boat.
