Go and get you a cheap 3/4 oz spoon to practice casting with. There is a good chance that when you get a bird’s nest the sudden stop will snap your line and send your lure flying through the air.
It hurts when you see your expensive lure flying out into the middle of the lake. Just don’t ask how I know.

If you are right-handed, you may find that you prefer left-hand retireve reels. It makes no sense to me that so many anglers do the “switch” nowadays when we have so many LH options available.
