From my understanding, male betta have big fins like that compared to females, females have very small fins, an egg spot and no beard. Look under his face for a darker stripe-like part, if there is one, its a male

Female and male bettas are not always as different in behavior as people think. The egg spot suggests a female. In a fish this color, you should be able to see the ovaries if it’s female. if you can, get a photo of them with the light hitting tjeir side behind them! it should show a shadow of their insides.
if its a female, she will have a triangle organ (her lady bits) that males dont have
