Aquariums: Made a custom 75g that’s been up for almost a year… Nobody that ever comes over looks at or mentions it … Why?
I have this 75g that is my pride. I built the stand built the custom driftwood and cave. Whenever we have a family party or get together, nobody ever looks at it. Only reason I can think of is because it's not saltwaternand flashy. I thought the natural look would be appealing.

Most people just see fish tanks as decoration. They don’t know enough about what they are seeing to properly appreciate it.

I face the same thing with my other Hobbies also. You should join an aquarium group or meet up in your area and then post your aquarium videos to YouTube or take pictures with your phone and share them there. Those are the people that will appreciate and really give you feedback and questions about your setup that’s your community

I have a 15g with 4 sparkling gourami and a 3g (just plants currently) in my living room that no one mentions that are my real pride and joy. Without fail, every single person that walks into my house is immediately captivated by my huge monstera and my terrarium though. Maybe because they have more experience with keeping (and killing) terrestrial plants?

Invite me over and I will appreciate the heck out of it. I would plop myself on the floor with some pillows and popcorn and watch that for hours (after first spending a good 20 minutes with my nose practically against the glass inspecting every little detail). That’s a dream tank right there!!

I don’t think it always goes unnoticed. I’m pretty sure when you are not looking some people are looking at it or talking about it.
I have a 100g at the main entrance. Natural look. 80% of people will look at it or say something about it. Around 20% just walk by.
Funny thing: I have rainbow fish, angelfish, denison barbs, cichlids… and some glofish, for let’s say, historical reasons. Most people say of all the fish there, their favorite is the pink glofish 🤦🏻♂️

You did a very good job , most people are not good judges of aquariums . I picked up some red dragons angels as eye candy for skeptics . But some people don’t see the hard work that you done .

Do you have just stand there and look at it yourself while people are there? I do, mainly because I enjoy watching it. Once people see you, they’ll be more likely to take notice of it. I like to point out my different snails, or crazy stuff my cories are doing etc. though, having a turtle is wild in itself. Be proud of what you’ve put together and don’t be ashamed to admire your work while there are people around.

i am easily distracted by any living creature, especially ones i like, and i like fish so you can bet id be standing there staring at all the fish like this
Most people don’t care about others hobbies. I will say my most stared at tanks is the naturally planted one. My mostly empty breeding tanks with just a big ball of moss and my black water always get ignored, my parrot tank with fake plants gets ignored. My heavily planted 30gal shrimp tank that’s honestly nothing special and not well aquscaped but again heavily planted people can’t take their eyes off of.

Most people don’t even have the normal attention span anymore if ur tank doesn’t have magical fishes who know tricks n can talk no one can hold appreciation for this! However I know this bc I have two n it’s a 2sec worth look for most of our guest lol even the kids.
On the other hand I love ittttttttt the stones the layout ur turtles so cute! N active! Fishes are vibrant n pretty! Love the plants
