I've just put together this Abu Garcia maxx baitcaster on an Abu Garcia vengeance 7' medium with 14lbs suffix elite mono line.
I've taken it out today to practice with it and between trying to cast it and get the spool dialed correctly it's a chore and I'm really not having fun or enjoying it whatsoever.
I didn't get a giant backlash yet but I do feel the spool freewheeling a bit and the line having a crunchy feel to it when I reel it in idk what I'm doing but I don't think this one is gonna make an appearance outside the house.

I have one of those and it’s the worst baitcast reel I’ve ever owned.
I just recently got into fishing and assumed baitcaster were the adult version of the click button spin casts lol it’s been 6 months of picking out backlash but I eventually got it. I still don’t know if it’s worth it but it does get better 😂😂
Tighten the magnetic brake (wheel on the side) all the way to max. Then, put a typical lure you use on the line, hold the rod tip straight out forward, and push the button. The lure should drop at a slow constant speed, stopping completely once it hits the ground. This adjustment is the “fine tuning” knob. For me it’s about 3-4 seconds it takes for the lure to hit the ground. Once you’ve done all that, you should be dialed in until you get consistent with the cast.
Looks to be over spooled a bit as well
Probably don’t want to hear this but any bait caster under $100 is going to suck and be super hard to dial in, no matter how hard you try.
