Toughest time for fishing over here so I've been getting ready for the upcoming season by making my own jigging assist hooks and tutorials. I used to just buy pre-wound sets but they went up about 30% in price a a couple of years ago so I started making my own.
I like to use these Owner hooks that are made in Japan. I've been using them ever since I started fishing and they've always hooked fast and held on to the fish well. Also, I find by using this Owner glow in the dark wrapping thread and these sabiki type flasher threads that I pick up from the local Japanese tackle store, I get a lot more hits than when just using plain hooks.
If anyones starting out, I definitely recommend getting a vice from the start. It's so much easier having both hands free. This Owner SW one that I got in Japan has a slot for the hooks and can accomodate both large and small jigging hooks, but it's probably hard to get your hand on outside of Japan.
Are Owner Cultiva hooks popular where you live too?

I like the decoy assist hooks. They are affordable and can be bought in bulks
