I’m putting together my first all-around fishing setup that I can use for both freshwater in Michigan and saltwater when I travel to Florida.
Most of my fishing will be from shore, beaches, or piers, and I want a setup that lets me target a mix of fish like bass, panfish, snook, redfish, pompano, etc.
I attached a picture of the gear list I’m planning to buy. It includes:
• braid + mono + fluorocarbon leader
• circle hooks for saltwater
• bait holder / worm hooks for freshwater
• pyramid sinkers for surf fishing
• bullet weights + split shot
• swivels
• paddle tail swimbaits + jig heads
• a few starter lures (Rapala, Mepps spinner, crankbait)
• Fishbites for surf fishing
• tools like pliers, knife, fish gripper, etc.
I also already bought a tackle backpack to store everything.
My goal is to have one versatile setup that works year-round for both environments.
For those of you who fish shore or piers, is there anything obvious I’m missing or anything you’d change before I buy everything?
Things I’m especially curious about:
• any must-have rigs or tackle I forgot
• better hook sizes or weight sizes
• lures that beginners should always carry
• gear that’s useful for surf fishing specifically
Really appreciate any advice — trying to build a solid beginner kit the right way the first time.
Thanks!

Stupid AI slop. Why would you need the words ‘fishing line’ next to a picture of fishing line?
Who is this this possibly helping?
Get a decent maybe around 100 bucks 7 or 10 foot spinning reel and rod. Ugly stik maybe ? Once it’s warmer go out and fish so you’ll have experience and know how you’ll like to fish then you’ll have a better idea of what fishing gear you’ll want to haul with you when you go out. It’s not bad to have the basic stuff you list but you might save some money. Freshwater and saltwater fishing can be different depending on what you’re targeting. Watch yt of what kind of fish you’ll want to target so you can get an idea of what the fisherman are using for certain area and fishes.
