Just oil and greased my Curado 201 M now that I put it back together the drag doesn’t work and it reels both forwards and backwards I’m guessing it’s the anti reverse but I can’t figure out how to fix it please help don’t want to waste all this money (if it matters I didn’t actually grease once I opened it as it wasn’t needed just oil)

If u need pictures of inside lmk

I would take it back apart and look at the reel schematics while putting it back together making sure everything is right. The anti reverse bearing should not be greased or oiled.

Do you have the parts diagram? Sounds like the dog is not engaging. Either it’s missing or overgreased and can’t move. So take it apart, imspect all parts are where they are supposed to be and check their movement.

Take it back apart and send a picture. That’s the only way I can help. Those 2 problems shouldn’t be connected.

  4. Anti reverse or drag stack was installed wrong. With the drag not engaging the Belleville washers need to be orientated the right way () not )) or ((. Anti reverse bearings should never be greased, only lightly oiled. Although you said you didn’t do that so shouldn’t be causing the issue.

  5. The answers you got so far are good, but feel free to reply to me if you still need help. I’ve spent a lot of time on my anti reverse bearings between a gouged sleeve, a blade of grass in the needle bearings preventing engagement and too much oil causing it to slip. Any oil you put on, roll both directions and then do the same with a dry q tip to remove most of it. It’s just to prevent rust in most of the AR bearings I’ve dealt with

Don’t do anything drastic lol, you’ll get it working again I promise!

Big edit: use a clean table with a cloth to disassemble, if you lose those needle bearings or anything small it will be a pain to find
