I am honestly broke but I feel so sad when I see him. It's essentially just a bigger pet store cup. What can I do to improve his quality of life without spending insane money 🙁 Or any kits I can purchase? What to avoid?
I know he needs a little hide and bubbler at LEAST. And a bigger tank of course. Help!

Steal him and get him in a tank
get at least a 5g tank with a lid, an air-powered sponge filter, air pump, airline tubing, a check valve, a fishtank heater at about 25-50W, a fishtank thermometer, aquarium grade water conditioner like seachem prime, specialized betta pellets, google fish-in cycle and betta care sheets/guides like the one I’ll attach here, and that should be good enough for starters

Check Facebook marketplace and other second hand places for a 5+ gallon tank, often they’ll come with accessories like a filter and maybe even a heater
Petco is having a sale, 50% off lots of tanks now. How much money can you spend? Might be around 100-150 to get everything you need but there are always workarounds! Are you in the US?
Buy him a 5 gal from petsmart if u sign up to bea memeber which is only adding ur phone number the 5 gals with the light and HOB filters are only $35.00 it’s a steal deal
1 and only suggestion. Try putting the fish in a fish tank.
