This is my baby ❤️ I rescued him (?) from petco a few months ago he was wayyy to big for his cup he’s about two and a half or three inches long (an absolute sweetheart who totally didn’t eat any of his tank mates) he started out pretty pastel but clearly has grown very vibrant his container said he was a halfmoon king betta (he was like 35$) but petco also gave me a “female” cat so i decided to check here I don’t even know if he is a he
(dispute my attempts of controlling the algae not looking great his tank is very healthy according to this sub just pardon the green on the glass it’s a hard spot to scrape)

To me he looks like a HMPK (halfmoon plakat) Technically there is no real difference between king n normal betta splendid. Kings are typically just bigger (around 2-2.5”) typically Petco and stores like it will sell bigger HMPKs as halfmoon kings… they’re not technically wrong cause plakats tend to be on the bigger side- it’s just a lil confusing. It’s all marketing up to a certain point 🤷🏽 beautiful fish by the way! 😁
