Im planning a trip this summer for some off roading and fly fishing in the San Juan's. Will have the backpacking gear as well and want to get into some cutts. Suggested routes of travel and spots to hit? If incan short cut to any lakes via the treils then backpack or hike in would be ideal. Was looking at American basin as well and have seen lake Como on some videos. Have a capable lifted 4runner and the whole area looks awesome.

Lake Como is in the Sangre de Cristo Range, not the SJs, fyi. The biggest thing about the high alpine lakes in Colorado is, a lot and, I mean A LOT are chocked full of trout. Look at maps and pick your poison, if you dig long enough on the net you’ll find sticking reports on lakes from CPW.
