Hi all, since I got my freshwater pipefish it’s been a fast learning curve! These guys only really eat tiny live food. So I have bottles of daphnia, bbs and cyclops culturing indoors and outside. These guys are slow, clumsy eaters so instead of dumping into the tank and hoping for the best (and losing most live food to the filter), I’ve started to target train. It’s going surprisingly well, she’s recognising the pipet is a source of food and is now way more active and curious.

If anyone else keeps these and has tips, I’d love to hear about your experience!

Microphis aculeatus (Short-tailed pipefish) is a tropical, largely freshwater, and estuarine pipefish found in West Africa, measuring up to 17.1 cm. Known as a specialized aquarium fish, they require clean water, dense cover, and live food.

Ps sorry, seems my phone would rather focus on ANYTHING apart from the pipefish (including the water marks lol)
