I pinch barbs on trebles for several reasons including this

The worst is when you catch a fish and get a finger caught and the fish is going berserk on the other treble…

Done that before. Don’t rig your rod in a room with a running ceiling fan.

Keep a wire clippers on me fishing for just this reason.

Haha. Been there. Whopper hooks are wild. Burried one of those in my back pulling it out of a tree. Thank god there was a kayak fisherman close by. We were on an empty lake. He and I still laugh about it when I run into him. We used fireball and pliers. It hurts but doable. Good luck brother.

One of the many reasons I almost exclusively run single barbless hooks, the only exception is my halibut/deep water jigging gear. Haven’t used barbed hooks or trebles in freshwater for years as I pretty much always practice C&R.

Done this. You Need to push it through and cut it which is exactly what they’ll do at the hospital.
It hurts but you can carry on fishing!

Treble is not the problem – barb is the problem. Nothing wrong with swapping out trebles for single hooks, but if you remove the barbs – you’ll never have trouble removing a hook from yourself
Hopefully this makes you feel better. 2 years ago, newish to fishing just bought a used kayak. Wanted a pic of the crappie and it flopped out of my hand. Had to load my kayak and drive a hour with the crainkbait hanging from my leg. I still use trebles everytime I caught a 40” Muskie at night by myself using a crank!

I clamp the barbs down. Trebles aren’t the problem

Those whopper ploppers are brutally sharp. Been clipped countless times. You won this one.

If you fish long enough, this will eventually happen. Have a plan and know the proper extraction technique.

I mean, it looks like you’re not particularly easy on your fingers to begin with, judging on that bandaid you already have.
Welcome brother you are now an angler
You’re not alone lol
It’s not the treble it’s the barb that’s the worst part.
Push it through and clip it
They’re great hooks as long as you’re not an idiot

Same lol.
Imagine that in your lip. 😢 Heal fast op!! I hope extraction wasn’t too bad!
Been there! Except mine wasn’t a treble, just a big ass single hook.
