Long story short, I have a Penn Battle 3 spooled with 30# braid on a med heavy lite Ugly stick I use for top water action, striped bass on Lanier. I have two 4501 Avis’s that use for free lining or drop lining, the main workhorses on my kayak.
Second setup was heavy as I wanted to shark fish off Satellite Beach, caught a few nurse sharks but nothing I couldn’t handle. This setup is a Squall 40 with Bigwater ugly stick.
We are heading down to New Smyrna later this year. I’m interested in hitting sharks at night, but maybe doing some artificial tossing with the Penn 3 for tarpon/red bass or whatever hits.
My question, could can I use the spinning for tarpon or whatnot? The larger “shark reel” I can move bait out at just as I’ll bring my fishing kayak, so caring wont’t be factored in
Questions is, can both rods function as I’m describing their intended use?

*Avis = Abu
Caring = casting.
Any giant or medium shark for that casting reel will most likely spool it. Smaller sharks will be a breeze. And your spinning setup seems pretty good. I wouldn’t know for tarpon since I never fished Florida yet
