bought reel and rod but is the reel seat too tight or the reel arm too bulky? any recommendations?

Take it back or hose clamp or cable tie.

Can we please see more of the rod details… I can’t 100% tell if it’s an ice rod or baitcaster but that’s what the reel.seat is telling. Such incompatible is likely the reason a spinning reel doesn’t fit.
