I was recently gifted an Orvis Rocky Mountain 795-2 along with a Clearwater reel. While this isn't the length/wt rod I'd go buy for myself today, I'm excited to rig this up and use it this season.
I fish out west and my everyday rod is a Sage Sonic 904-4. I also have a euro rod and a 905-4.
Summer camping trips are to the high country tributaries. Otherwise I'm fishing medium sized rivers closer to home.
If you were me, where would this shorter 5wt slot into your quiver? What line would you put on it?

This rod is more of a moderate action I would test cast it with a true 5wt line at 7-9 it’s a creek rod should be good for dry flies
These were great rods. I’d use this on small to medium-sized trout streams with a standard (i.e., not overweight) wf5f line. No need to overthink things. Anywhere you are hiking and casting dries or light nymphs to 8-16″ trout would be perfect. This will be more similar to a modern 4 weight.
