advice is appreciated, also i got a heater but it won’t stay at a temperature and just slowly go back down so i’m returning it and getting a new one before i start cycling

Beautiful tank!! That piece of spiderwood is gorgeous and I’m so glad you’re joining this community it’s so fun:D
I would recommend that you add some more plants eventually, as bettas love densely planted tanks as well as murky waters that you can recreate with indian almond/catappa leaves.
Heaters may speed up the process but you can deffo start the cycle without it! Best of luck to you
