I'm going on a trip to Kauai, Hawaii at the end of April and looking to fish Anini beach and maybe another flat.
I don't have experience fly fishing fishing saltwater, but I'm a fairly experienced in trout waters. I have done some research, but there"s not a ton of information regarding Kauai, so I wanted to reach out about other's experiences, tips/suggestions/useful information, thoughts on flies (weights and sizes), leader recepies, booties and other equipment.
I have a 9-foot 8wt with a flats line and a couple of shrimp flies in size 6 & 8.
I honestly don't have huge expectations, but I figured since I'm there might as well toss some flies.
Thanks for your thoughts!

Never fished bonefish, but i do know a lot of beach and salt environments have multiple species. I’d get some patterns for other fish species there as well.
That way if you don’t encounter bonefish, you won’t be skunked.
Hit up the guy who guides there. Rob.
The only place you can reliably find them at on Kauai is Anini Beach. The closer to Princeville the better. Even knowing exactly where to find them it can still be quite challenging to target them, I’d recommend hiring a guide.
