Hello 👋

I’m new to Fishing, and wanted to change the line it came with (10lbs-White Line) to (20lbs-Green Line as seen in the photos). It took me about an hour to change it but eventually figured it out. Trial and Error 😅 But Hey I Got It 🥳 Got it on dumb luck is what I like to call it 😂 Anywho… The problems I ran into was once I assumed I got it, and was reeling it in. It actually kept reeling out. Then after disassembling for the third time, it did start to reel in the correct way. But then it was knotted.

I understand this hobby is a learning process but after watching some short videos on YouTube I think I just confused myself more. It was my fault tho because I think I’m not looking up the right videos. Thus the reason why I’m coming to Reddit.

Any links to better videos, or very detailed descriptions would be very helpful.

So questions I have:

How do I change out the line more officially and faster?

Can and How do I avoid knots?

Is there a right way to wind up the line on the spinner? Do I have to use the “Righty tightie, lefty loosely” method?

I noticed when I disassembled it some parts were “greased” how often do I need to “re-grease” it?

Sorry if these questions are a little dumb, like I said Im very new to this and wanting to learn everything I can. So any other tips you think would help besides from the questions I asked, please fill free to inform me!

Also disclaimer: I’m dyslexic so if some of this doesn’t make sense. I understand 😂😂😂 and sorry .

There’s no official way to spool line as there are no officials to officiate or any organized line spooling organizations to impose regulations

As far as how to make knots I don’t know what you did or how you did it.

Sorry if this reply is unhelpful

OP Here: I didn’t mean officially, I meant to put efficiently and faster 😂

  3. I work in an outdoor fishing/hunting store. Button cast reels are my literal enemy. You can’t spool them ANY way that doesn’t create a massive line twist.

My suggestion to you, is ditch the button cast… and get a spinning reel/rod combo.

Learn how to cast it. Its super easy, my 7 year old nephew can do it with some accuracy.
