Can’t find much online other than they are made in Japan and from the 50’s and 60’s. Both the same model……the red one is shockingly smooth and quiet.

    Direct drive traditional baitcaster

Before baitcasters had spools that could “freespool” you had this kind of reel.

You need dracon hollow braid around 15 pounds to fish these kind of reels, they don’t work well with your normal lines. Dracon hollow braid is still available for saltwater or ice fishing.

There really fun to fish, when you cast the handle spins around and the reel goes vroom.

There’s a switch on the side opposite of the handle that is a “clicker” turn it off to cast, then turn it on to retrieve.

There’s usually no drag, but you let the spool “drag” on your thumb to fight a fish.
