Been happening pretty consistently for the last 15 or 20 minutes in various spots in this cove on Lake Barkley.

Could be beavers. A few years ago my dad and I were out late fishing and heard similar and finally spotted a beaver or two slapping the water. Pretty unsettling when you are back in a cove thinking you are alone away from everyone else and until that point had no clue that beavers “slap” water with their tail.

Prob beavers
I was night fishing a few summers ago on my kayak. I could have sworn kids were throwing big rocks at me. Flipped my headlamp on and it was an angry beaver doing circles around me
