My daughter is a huge Mario fan so I put together this Mario themed tank for her glo fish tetras. Everything aside from the characters on the castle were 3D printed and then I hand painted the Odyssey. Everything was 3x coated in food grade epoxy to ensure all decor would be inert and aquarium safe. This setups been going about 6 months strong without issue and I’m super happy with how it turned out!

Are those fish all from the same tetra family? I saw that some shops give you a mix but the fish really want to be in groups of 5+ so they can shoal with their own kind. They may be stressed otherwise.

The tank looks super cool. Good job.

The zebra is schooling and should ideally have more of its own kinda. I know you said you don’t think that fish is stressed but 100% keeping schooling fish alone is stressful for them there is no chance it’s not. The tank is a little undersized for the type of fish you are keeping as most of those fish are recommended to be in 20gal.

If you aren’t able to upgrade it would strongly advise some live plants like abubias/java fern and java moss(all do better tied to large rocks or decor vs planted)

Horn wort, anarchis and any cryptocorynes would be a good choice too just get some root tabs for them.

Pet stores are 100% a buisness first take what they say with a grain of salt and do your own research

Aww I really like the decor! I wanted to do something like that with Pokemon, but I have no skills. If you wanted some plants, you could add Anubias along the back. It doesn’t need planted, just weighted with something (or glued), and would use up a bit of the nitrates. Otherwise, nice job!

  4. Non natural tanks tend to get a lot of hate, but those 3D prints are so neat! I would second what other people are saying about trying to incorporate some live plants if you can, as it will benefit the fish and make your life easier in maintaining water parameters. Additionally, that zebra danio would be much happier in a school of its own species, so I would really look into either upgrading and getting him a school, or rehoming him and perhaps adding one or two more skirt tetras instead.

Not a good fish environment. They have nowhere to hide, and it’s too small for that amount of fish. Looks more like you care about looking cool with the 3D stuff than actually caring for those fish.
