I was wondering to to add on this side of the tank. More plants? more decor? It's a 10 gallon and it houses 1 betta.
I was wondering what plants would other people recommend to add. Would it be OK to add shrimp into the tank?

A big piece of driftwood with java fern and anubias glued onto it. Not sure about the shrimps though, really depends on how your betta will do with them. Heres what I did with mine

Any kind of (aquarium safe) wood! It adds so much dimension and anchors plants. I wouldn’t get shrimp until you have a lot more hiding places, and then I’d start with a cheap ghostie to see how your bettas reaction.
Beautiful tank! Hope to see updates!
Wood
Well, since you asked. 1. I’ve checked that little cute bridge out before. Since you’re getting a betta, make 100% sure there aren’t any sharp edges (especially underneath) as betta have sensitive skin and fins. Anything sharp is risky for betta. I used a coarse sandpaper, then fine sanded decor to be smooth. 2. How about a nice piece of “mopani” driftwood for the back right corner? In my experience the spiderwood driftwood has a lot of scratchy areas. Mopani is generally smoother. Check and sand as needed. Be sure to soak your wood. It will leach tannins for some time, but betta like dark water. 3. If not wood, buy some Indian almond leaves / catalpa leaves. (Go read about the benefits.) 4. More live plants. I like Anubis’s Nana and Java Fern a lot. I glue the rhizomes to a pebble, big rock, driftwood. Some betta will tear your plants right out of the substrate. Anchored plants have another benefit of not being easily moved! Personally, I choose the biggest plants I can afford. Betta will rest on broad leaves. 5. I love rocks. There are many that would look great in there. Just make sure they are aquarium and betta safe. Final comment: Betta are great by themselves. Shrimp can easily be a snack. Betta and shrimp – no. A 10 gallon tank is a great upgrade from the plastic cup but kinda small for any additional fish. Best of luck to you!
