Hi. Any thoughts which one is better or maybe a better suggestion? It will be used for salmon/steelhead float fishing.

  1. I have multiple of both reels.

I think the regal lt feels better but theyre both great for the price.

  2. I personally wouldn’t use a spinning reel for float fishing, they definitely work but they’re far from the best tool for the job as they don’t let line out smoothly resulting in shorter and less smooth/natural drifts. I’d recommend a baitcaster or centerpin, paired with a rod between 10’6” and 13’, both of these reels let line out much smoother which allows for well controlled natural drifts, the longer rod greatly helps with line management as well. I’ve been float fishing salmon and steelhead for years now here in BC, I started with a 9’6” spinning rod and 4k spinning reel, but I’ve since upgraded to a centerpin as well as a casting rod and reel, the difference is night and day.
