Length and girth measurements are simple requirements anglers should know about. These are need for replica mounts for taxidermy with photos from multiple angles ideally. Length measurement will get you within a decent ballpark for knowing weight with modern charts, with exceptions.
If you're honestly concerned about your broken scale and knowing the weight on some estimate later on, simple take a photo with a reference to a length and provide that length with your photos. Girth can get guessimations even closer.
