So my mum keeps guppies because she adores their colours, however she’s not really fond of how quickly they have offspring. Now I wanted to make my own tank for my room, so i bought a 10.5 gallon, heater, filter and light along with plants and driftwood in preparation for a betta. During the cycling process, my mum’s guppies must’ve had the most in heat session a gilled being could have because i come home from university one day to see a literal metric tonne of guppy fry in my cycling/cycled tank (had been about 1 month). Now I decided to let them stay while i was busy and i didn’t want to give them a hard life of throwing them back in with their parents and possibly being eaten or inbreeding to start.
2 months later i’ve got a tonne of colour in the tank but not enough space for all of them to live comfortably. I’ve asked my local pet shop if they’d buy them off me, came back with a no. So now i’m wondering how I can get rid of the fish so as I can have my tank my way.

post some on some fish groups on facebook in your local area, people will be happy to take them in my experience
you can ask in some local shops if they want them, usually they help
Guppies reproduce endlessly. It’s a huge inconvenience. Don’t keep males and females together
