Rod fell down off the railing as I was re baiting, big dumb moment. And it broke off some of the guides. Was still usable but was sharp and shredding the line as I was reeling in. How would I replace the bit, would glue/sand paper work or would i have to replace the entire guides? Its the very tip and also the next one over. I saw you can replace the plastic bits as well. Would that be the best thing to do?

The rod tip repair kit from Walmart or any online shop works wonders. Usually less than 5 bucks, and the only tools you need are pliers and a lighter

  2. Cannot repair the insert. You need to replace the entire tip which is easy and cheap to do.

  3. Super simple. Heat the tip up with a lighter and pull it off (do I have to tell you to not use bare fingers?) It’s just on there with hot glue. If it won’t come off, use more heat. Just be careful not to burn the actual rod blank

They make replacement tips of various sizes. What’s important is the diameter of the rod blank at the tip. Once the old tip is off, get a pair of calipers and measure it. This will give you the size you need for your replacement. Once you have that, pick a new tip in the color/style you prefer, plus a stick of glue (usually comes in a red tube). Take a razor blade and shave a few little pieces of glue and jam them into the hole on the new rod tip. Then heat the glue, roll the tip of the rod blank in the glue. Then heat the new tip and slip it onto the tip of the rod. Wipe off excess glue. If you don’t have the tip aligned with the other guides, simply re-heat it and twist into position.

Good advice on replacing the tip on this thread. But to replace the next eye down, you’ll need to remove it – I’ve done it by using a utility knife to shave down the thread wrap and epoxy. You’ll need to wrap the replacement with thread and re-glue so it doesn’t come apart
