I’m new in this hobby of keeping fish, I bought a 528 gph canister filter for a 60 gallon tank and I ask chat gpt how to place the outflow nozzle for maximum oxygenation without excessive noise or splashing, it recommended me to position the nozzle just below the water surface and angle it upward at a 30 to 45-degree angle, my question is if this is enough water agitation movement to create enough oxygen, plus I have 1 live Anubia plant in the tank. Kindly advice please.

Thank you!

As long as you have decent surface agitation youll have decent oxygen levels the movement on top of water allows the gases to escape the water creating more oxygenated water.

No you need to generate visible tsunamis in your tank.

Jk it’s plenty lol. Do be careful asking ChatGPT about advice. I’ve gotten some very wrong answers

  3. The most efficient way to add oxygen to an aquarium is with an air stone. Simple and effective.

My spray bar has been just like that for about 6 months and none of my guys are glass skimming or gulping.

Unfortunately measuring oxygen in the water is kind of impractical for hobbyists. Just pay attention to what your fish are doing, symptoms of oxygen problems would be apparent within a couple hours.

I will say thay the downside is that you have to make real sure you keep your water levels at the right spot. If the water level drops too low then you start arcing water until the air and the splashing can cause a lot of water to be running down the outside of the tank onto the stand.

  6. How many real plants do you have?

My shrimp tank doesn’t even have a pump running. My Anubis is in there pearling off a string of o2  bubbles by 4pm. Light and plants will make loads of o2
