hey, I've been thinking lately I'd like to utilize more offset or regular worm hooks for fishing senkos and finesse worms.
something that tends to bug me though is that the shank leading to the eye ends up at an odd angle protruding out of the tip of narrow baits.
Anyone aware of maybe taking a regular worm hook and maybe bending the shaft up a bit so that the top portion of the shaft is in line with the bait? Or do they make one this shape, about 2/0?
I'm aware of EWG and hybrid EWGs, just trying to see if I can find something with more bite but also that rigs up the soft plastic nice and straight.
see pic, considering taking a regular worm hook with barbed keepers and simply bending up the eye and shank at the red portion. I understand this will weaken the hook, but I don't expect monsters with this technique.

Where the blue and red part meet is where the eye of the hook should be, and moved up to the end of the worm if rigged correctly. It shouldn’t be coming out of the worm before the end, otherwise you are using the wrong size.
That hook would just be a flipping hook.
What is the benefit to this over an EWG? The problems you mentioned are solved better than your diagram.
Im.not sure i understand the issue. You can rig any worm straight on a ewg or worm hook, you just have to adjust how you rig it depending on thickness, length, etc. The hook point on an ewg is directly in line with the shaft lwading to the eye. You may have to texpose it to get whT youre looking for, but theres no need to reinvent the wheel.
They make long neck hooks. Tacklewarehouse carries them. The company also makes skirted two packs as well.
