Does anyone have any advice for getting this on a roof rack alone? What ive been doing is flipping it upside down, leaning it against the side of my car and flipping it back over once I lift it up there, then sliding it onto the rack. It works, but is is very hard to do and Im worried Ill somehow damage the steering handle or the rudder, especially when getting it back down.

I would first invest in some roof racks foam pads, this will help protect your kayak from hull rash and minor dents when strapping it down, it will also most importantly provoke to not slide per metal and plastic contact. secondly, I would watch a YouTube video on how to car top a Hobie outback with a towel. why , Hobie outback? it can give some example on how to car top a kayak similar in weight fast and easy, and demonstrates how the the Hobie has a car top loader adapter piece on the back of the kayak. maybe you can make a make shift loader by using a thick foam block with strap built in to it and attach to the back bottom side to protect your rudder when car toping it off the floor. hope any of this helps, or maybe there is better ways out there!
