he is a bit bloated i would definitely fast him for at least a day if not 2-3 until the bloat goes away and then resume feeding again

Whenever I feel my bettas is questionable, I put in Alder cones! Most people use other forms of tannins like catappa leaves (Indian almond leaves).
Seachem prime is the best product, and please get something to contribute tannins 🙂
If your tank was just freshly set up, you need to cycle it. I used ‘stability’ one capful for seven days…
