  1. Fish change “colors” depending on stress and other factors. A fish being light, less colorful is a sign of stress or something else wrong. A fish showing darker colors is a happy normal fish and a fish displaying deep colors or bright colors can be trying to mate, or be territorial. A fish changing colors is normal and is a great indicator of how they are doing.

Its normal!! Bettas usually change color when they’re in less stressful enviroments & happy, the small cups they come in at pet stores are really stressful on them and so usually their colors are washed out/faded so its super normal for them to change once they move to a larger and nicer tank. They can also change color due to getting older but regardless it looks like you have a happy little guy!! Hes so cute >.<

  3. This is a good thing probably most of the time when you find them in a cup in the store they’re stressed and aren’t their actual color yet

  4. This is a good sign, it means he is in healthy water and happy, good job! He may continue to change colors

  5. Pretty fishy 🥰 so far in my life I have owned 4 bettas, I have gotten them all from commercial pet stores to give them a better quality of life, and I’ve noticed they have all changed color whenever they got acclimated to their new home. Additionally, some bettas carry a marbling gene that can cause them to color shift based on a variety of factors. Your fish might just be really frickin happy to be out of its tiny plastic prison. Your fish looks lovely and looks like its developing a beautiful color pattern. Keep us posted on the changes! You’ll see how much they change color throughout their life if you keep an album. One thing to look out for with colors and bettas, are stress stripes. Those would look like thin pinkish red bands running horizontally in rows along their body. Your guy looks pleasant though so good luck w everything!

Edit: zoom in on first Pic, you can see their stress stripes. In updated Pic he looks fine 🙂
