29 gal, ~22 or so Cardinal tetras, 3-4 amano, and 1 puppy that came with plants. I'm thinking possibly a gourami? I had 4 female betta in here (from a sorority) but they were getting too aggressive with the tetras. They were totally fine with eachother and the shrimp; I think they saw the tetras as possible food.

I need some recommendations!

  1. Nice tank! I think 1 pearl gourami should be fine. It peaceful and looks good. You could also do Honey gourami’s. Although in my experience I was never able to keep more than one at a time (YMVV). I would always end up having one honey harassed by another even though there was plenty of space between them. You would maybe need to get 4+ to avoid bullying…but not sure. Some people have had success with a group of them, but I haven’t been lucky.

Don’t IMO, that green IS your center piece.

But if your gonna…. Bolivian Rams.

Definitely honey gourami. Small, drift beautifully, peaceful, and they would look stellar against the green and blue.

  4. Definitely something red. Lyre tail swordtails can be quite vivid, though not everyone’s idea of a centerpiece. I agree on the betta, tho i saw your answer to that suggestion above.
