It all depends! What you believe is best for you might not be what others think! Go fishing and figure out what you like!
My favorite setup for an “All Around” rig is a 7ft 6in St Croix (Medium-Light) 4-10lb rod paired with a President 35 Pfluger reel. 6lb test. I hammer fish with this rig. Great for sizing down to 1/8oz jigs to 1/4-3/8 Rooster tails, and even crankbaits.
Longer rods allow you to cast further, if you fish from the bank… this is golden. If you have a boat… I love to troll with a longer rod because it allows me to stick it off the side and cast another rod out the back.
It’s all preference.
My catfish rigs are all “Catch the Fever” rods with 6500 Abu Garcia’s on them.
Once again all preference. Happy fishing! If you can afford what you have and love to fish… you’ll find a way to catch fish regardless.
