I went back to the same pond where I took my students fishing last time — the same one where they caught fish and I got skunked.
Too bad I didn’t have the camera rolling earlier. I bombed the bait way out into the pond and started reeling it back in. After over an hour with zero action — and none of the other guys around me were catching either — I hooked this big bass right before I was about to pull the bait out of the water.
It’s prespawn season, and crawfish are one of the main things that threaten bass eggs, so I feel like bass get way more aggressive toward craw-style baits this time of year. Air temp was around 20°C, and the water was probably somewhere around 14°C.
If you’ve been struggling to catch bass lately, give crawfish lures a shot. They came through for me today when everything else failed — stick worms, jerkbaits, spoons, all of it.
