Thankfully my dad has 3 other rods that are why better, but the lines have way too much memory on them to cast without tangling on the spool. Meaning I have to go buy more line and learn how to put it on the spool. I was hoping to go fishing for a few hours before work, but now I’ll be lucky if I can even get everything ready to fish for the next day. So that’s my plans for today completely ruined. Learning how to fish is hard :/

We’ve all been there unfortunately. If you bought the rod new theres a good chance you’ve can get a replacement tip section. If you cant find any foe that rod you can also get tip repair kits and put another top guide onto itt pretty easily. If you try to repair it it may not be as strong. As it once was but will sill be usable most likely

  2. Yep. My wife broke my custom saltwater rod by slamming it with my tailgate. Never was the same. The guy who built it tried to repair it but to no avail

I’ve put some new tips on broken rods and made them usable again. If you really liked that one any local fishing shop should have some.

  5. My tackle box has been stolen twice. Ive broken plenty of rods. Just start over. Thats part of it.

Asking as someone who’s been fishing for decades – is it bad for me to trim the excess off the top when I do this and use the rod with one less loop?

Some of the comments are making me think I’ve been ignorant for the last 20 years when doing that..
