Bought a shakespeare excursion push button reel. Goofed up, got line tangled and knotted between metal part and spool. How to take off metal part infront of spool?

Buy a Zebco 33 & throw that one away.

Push the button. If it makes the silver part “lift”, unwind the line from beneath it. If it doesn’t “lift”, turn the handle to set it. Then try unscrewing the silver part.
