So that is the lake in my back yard and my little aluminum Jon boat. There is a concrete ramp which I would like to use, but it scrapes the bottom of the boat and eventually would cause holes to wear through. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas about how I could make the ramp less abrasive. The only thing I can think of is covering it with pressure treated wood sheets, but that would have some obvious drawbacks. It seems a shame not to be able to use it, but in its present state it really is just not usable. Just thought some of you smart fellers might have a solution.

You dont want treated wood in contact with aluminum, it will corrode it.
I’d throw down a couple trex boards , expensive but theyll last forever.
Or strips of UHMW.
I bet youâre not getting any airtime with that ramp, it looks like it goes straight into the water. Maybe angle it up a bit more so you can do some cool flips and stuff.
You could get a rubber mat like what they use in restaurants. Get the dense rubber with the holes in it, not the foam. Foam will get waterlogged, rubber will be washable. Use masonry bolts with big 1.5â+ washers to secure the mat in place on the concrete ramp. It will last for many years, be relatively non-slip, and protect your boat.
Do you need to use the ramp for that boat? Arenât Jon boats normally very light and you can just pick em up?
Boat ramps are for trailers not the bare ass of your boat. They are supposed to be abrasive so your tires grip it.
Pull your boat up on the bank, off of the ramp, just like it is now.
Go buy a small trailer for your boat so it doesn’t sit on the ground all of the time. We used to launch ours with an atv.
If you put rubber mats or wood on it, they will get slick as fuck and your first step onto it will send you for a swim.
Make a rail/slide out of pvc pipe and some wood
Bolt on some wheels! There is a couple options out there for small boats i believe. I just saw an add for flip- up ones that can be bolted on. That way not only can you put in there without scratching, you can launch anywhere like a kayak if you are willing to do the pushing and pulling.
