I’m in the process of scaping my new tank and came to realize I have a surplus of these rocks in my backyard. Are there any experts that can tell me if these are safe to use, after I thoroughly clean them?

Should be good as long as you don’t use pesticides or herbicides

I use a little dosing syringe to put some white vinegar on rocks I find outside, especially in fissures, to see if it fizzes. If it reacts it means the rock is composed with carbonates that will breakdown into the water and raise KH/GH.
Other than rocks being inert or not, they’re generally safe after soaking for some time in a bucket of water and hydrogen peroxide to eliminate fungus, bacteria, and algae.

I rinse them off in the sink and put them straight into the tank. Never any issues. 🤷🏻♂️
